Love theatre? Want to be part of something creative, welcoming, and community-led? We’re always looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join us both behind the scenes and front of house at Wells Theatre Festival — including actors, technical theatre enthusiasts, and budding designers who want to gain experience in a live festival environment.

Alongside helping shape the festival in the lead-up, we recruit a volunteer team to help deliver the festival itself. Whether you’re interested in performance, lighting and sound, stage management, design, or audience-facing roles, there’s a place for you.

What you might be involved in

• Supporting artists, workshop leaders, and visiting theatre companies

• Acting as venue contact for performances and workshops

• Front of house and ushering for shows

• Assisting with technical theatre (lighting, sound, stage support)

• Supporting design, staging, and creative set-ups

• Guiding festival audiences and visitors

• Serving refreshments

• Collecting audience feedback

Volunteering can involve long but rewarding days, and all volunteers attend a friendly induction session beforehand to make sure everyone feels confident and supported.
