About Us

Founded in 2018, Wells Theatre Festival was established to increase access to high-quality, professional theatre in Wells and the surrounding area, with a particular focus on children, young people, and communities who face barriers to cultural participation. While Wells is often perceived as affluent, parts of the city and neighbouring areas experience deprivation, and our work is shaped by a commitment to inclusion and equity. We work in partnership with local schools to remove practical obstacles to engagement, including subsidised places and support with transport, ensuring more young people can experience live performance.

Participation sits at the heart of our work. We provide opportunities for people to engage in performance, technical theatre, and design, working alongside professional artists to develop skills, confidence, and pathways into the creative industries. Alongside this, we present a diverse, affordable programme that reaches across the community, from contemporary theatre and family work to performances in public spaces, care homes, and non-traditional venues.

Natalie Koen: Social Media

Natalie is the proud owner of Mojo Studio Media, a social media content marketing business based in Wells. After completing a level 3 NVQ in Business and Admin at Bridgwater College, she was offered an opportunity in 2013 to run social media pages for local tourism websites. This lead to growth in the marketing department and management of a small team. Here is where her passion grew as she was able to show her creative side digitally and via the world of social media. After making a change in 2020 after the first overwhelming year of COVID, Natalie joined her husband at his Wells-based business to assist where possible, and after much encouragement from family and friends, launched Mojo Studio Media in October 2022. The business is going from strength to strength and Natalie thoroughly enjoys what she does. She is now also part of our Wells Theatre Festival team helping run our Facebook and Instagram pages.
